CODE0039 Cooperativa Designer Italiani has been selected to participate in the prestigious “Italian Certified Connectors 2025” programme, promoted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the United Arab Emirates (IICUAE) under the high patronage of the Italian Embassy. The initiative will culminate in the MEAC – Middle East Architecture Congress 2025, scheduled in Dubai from 31 October to 1 November 2025, one of the most anticipated events on the international architecture, design and engineering scene.

Recognition of the value of Made in Italy

The selection of CODE0039 within this context represents an important recognition for the cooperative, which has been promoting Italian creativity and know-how in the field of sustainable design and innovation applied to living spaces and architecture for years. The “Italian Certified Connectors” project was created with the specific aim of fostering the internationalisation of Italian professional excellence, building a direct bridge between Italy and the United Arab Emirates, one of the most dynamic and rapidly expanding markets in the world.

Networking, training and international visibility

Thematic workshops, B2B meetings and round tables dedicated to the main industry trends: from the digitalisation of design processes to 3D printing, through to smart cities and sustainable mobility — these are the key highlights of the initiative. Participation will also offer privileged access to the new exclusive IICUAE platform, which will provide Italian designers with international visibility and opportunities for collaboration with local firms and businesses.

Dubai Skyline Architecture Awards 2025

Among the most eagerly awaited events is the Dubai Skyline Architecture Awards 2025, a competition that will honour the best architecture and sustainable design projects created by Italian professionals. CODE0039, thanks to its multidisciplinary and innovation-driven approach, is preparing to submit proposals capable of enhancing the Italian aesthetic and cultural identity within a global context.

CODE0039 Cooperativa Designer Italiani participated in Dubai Design Week 2025 – the eleventh edition of the Middle East’s largest creative festival – presenting the Biodiversity Dome – Arnie for the Future project as part of the group exhibition “Heart | Head | Hand”, curated by Isola Design Group in collaboration with Double J Collective Gallery at the Dubai Design District (d3).

A project bridging design, nature and sustainable innovation

Biodiversity Dome – Arnie for the Future is a project dedicated to protecting urban biodiversity through the creation of distributed hives, specifically designed for solitary desert bees – key pollinators essential to the balance of ecosystems in arid environments.

The hives are 3D-printed using bio-based PLA materials, fully sustainable, and designed to blend harmoniously into the urban landscape while providing safe shelters for pollinating insects. The project serves as a replicable model for future cities seeking to foster a more mindful coexistence between humans, nature and the built environment.

The inspiration: the ancient hives of Al-Kharfi

The project draws inspiration from an extraordinary heritage: in the Saudi Arabian desert, near Taif, the abandoned village of Al-Kharfi preserves over 1,200 clay and mud hives crafted by its ancient inhabitants as a vital resource for the community. These structures stand as a testament to human resilience and adaptability, demonstrating how people managed to thrive in one of the world’s harshest landscapes. Biodiversity Dome reinterprets this thousand-year-old legacy through the lens of contemporary design and digital fabrication.

The “Heart | Head | Hand” exhibition

The “Heart | Head | Hand” exhibition, hosted at the Double J Collective Gallery in the Dubai Design District, explored the emotional, intellectual, and tactile dimensions of making – an investigation into the relationship between contemporary craftsmanship, design thinking and materiality. The group show, curated by Isola Design Group together with Double J Collective, was one of Isola’s three main activations at Dubai Design Week 2025, alongside “Icons of Tomorrow” at the new Isola Space in Business Bay and “Living Forms” at the Sevil Dolmacı Gallery.

CODE0039 on the international stage

It represents an opportunity to increase visibility and networking for all the projects involved, taking advantage of the presence at ArtLab—held in the same venue—of highly relevant public and private stakeholders.

On Saturday, September 24, the award ceremony for the finalist projects of the competition “Intrecci Contemporanei per il Castello di Roccascalegna” took place at the Castle of Roccascalegna. The initiative was promoted by Code0039 – Cooperativa Designer Italiani and the Pro Loco of Roccascalegna, in collaboration with GAPEC – Associazione Giovani Architetti Chieti Pescara, BCC Sangro Teatina – Lanciano branch, RDJ – La Donna Red Jossy, and Gcreation.

The jury, which met on September 5, 2016, unanimously selected the winners of the two sections of the National Design Competition “Intrecci Contemporanei”, after a careful evaluation, and also awarded two honorable mentions.

For Section 1 – Architects, Designers, Creatives, Artisans, the winner of the €1,000 prize (before VAT and any other legal charges), together with a production and distribution contract with Code0039, is Giorgia Rossini with the project “Intrecci.”

An honorable mention was awarded to the project “Light Cheese” by Matteo Bosio and Rachele Fosco, recognized for its originality and reinterpretation of traditional themes. The prize consists of a €100 voucher redeemable at Feltrinelli bookstores.

For Section 2 – Students, the winner, awarded with a design magazine subscription, a production and distribution contract with CODE0039, and an internship at the cooperative to further develop the product for market release, is Bruno Delano Regnicoli Benitez with the project “Verticality.”

An honorable mention was given to the project “Meeto” by Aldo Deli. The jury decided to reward the student with a workshop at the cooperative.

The exhibition will remain open for one year, allowing all prototypes to be displayed within the stunning setting of the Castle of Roccascalegna.
